TOWN OF PONOKA
Position: Casual Lifeguards/Aquatics Instructors
The Town of Ponoka has immediate openings for Casual Lifeguards/Aquatic Instructors at the Ponoka Aquaplex. The Instructors participate in the delivery of the aquatic programs and provide on deck supervision of the pool area.
Responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Lifeguard and instruct special events and programs, including fitness classes in a positive and professional manner;
Casual Lifeguards/Aquatic Instructors participate in the delivery of the aquatic programs and provide on deck supervision of the pool area.
Participate in the daily operation and maintenance of the facility and assign tasks as needed; and
Perform routine mechanical maintenance and chemical additions as required.
Qualifications: 
To be successful in this role, applicants require the following knowledge, skills and current certification:
Working knowledge of the rules and regulations governing public safety in a swimming pool for effective lifeguarding and instruction methods and procedures;
Knowledge of swimming instruction techniques, including specialized areas such as special needs, pre-school, and lifesaving;
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills;
Microsoft Office computer knowledge and experience;
National Lifeguard Pool Option (NL) or Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification;
Standard First Aid/Aquatics Emergency Care Certification;
Water Safety Instructor (WSI).
Recruitment: 
Salary: As per AUPE agreement - $18.61 to $21.61 per hour plus 11% in lieu of vacation and holidays. Evening and weekend shift differential pay also provided.
Hours of Work: Candidate will be available to work shifts on weekdays and weekends as well as both day and evening shifts.
